Scar Removal Treatments
Surgical excision of the scar
The scar is removed surgically and stitched with special sutures and techniques to produce a hair line and almost nonvisible scar. Do not rush for scar removal soon after the surgery or accident. Scars caused by surgery or accidents fade away naturally or become less visible after some time.
Subcision
Subcision is the technique in which the depressed acne or other scars or depressed long linear scars are elevated from their bed. A needle is introduced in the base of the scar to cut the fibres tissue pulling the scar down. As the scar tissue at the base is severed the scar gets elevated. Multiple sessions may be required at appropriate intervals. After subcision Dermal Grafts can be injected below the scar to maintain its elevated position.
Intralesional kenakort injection
Is given in the hypertrophic and keloidal scars. If given early enough, it can prevent hypertrophic scars and keloids from appearing altogether.
Soft tissue fillers
These are injectables which are effective in treating depressed scars. Collagen, fats and hyaluronic acid are injected to soften the scars. These solutions last only for a short period.
Laser scar revision
Laser therapy uses a focused beam of light to treat scars. Laser treatment not only improves the appearance of a scar but also make a scar less noticeable. Different types of lasers are available to treat various scars.
Dermabrasion
This treatment removes the outer layer of the skin and gives the skin a smoother appearance. With the dermabrasion treatment, acne scars, surgical scars, pockmarks, and other skin irregularities are effectively treated.
Chemical peels
This method removes the top layer of the skin and improves the overall skin texture. A chemical solution is applied on the surface of the skin that eventually peels of the dead skin. It is very helpful to smoothen the superficial scars.
